I have learned that instructors are in a position of authority. Therefore, it is imperative we model our best behaviors to reflect our profession and knowledge as a subject matter expert. What I have learned is that we may not have all the answers, so having humility is an asset , and we can have students engaged to look up what they are asking for a discussion later.

Not every test is a perfect system that can measure a complete understanding. However, it is important to reflect what has been taught and retained and learned. Tests are stressful and it is not supposed to alienate students who don't get the right answers, instead to help identify improvements.

Honing our communication skills, and modeling that to our students help create a professional environment.

As a new faculty member transitioning into a new profession as an educator/VN clinical instructor, I am excited to expand my knowledge through the art and science of teaching. My goal is to help our students improve their success and opportunities in a fulfilling career.
