Mike's comments above are one of my pet peaves.  We report graduation and employment rates to both our accrediting agency and our state licensing agency and both require that we disclose the rates and how they are derived to prospective students.  This in and of itself is fine, but neither are on the same page, both require that we report on differing cohorts; both have differing definitions of graduate; both have differing definitions of employed in the field.  So the resultant reporting rates each year are wildly different.  It confuses the hell out of students and parents both and me… >>>

I am the compliance officer at a private posetsecondary college that has been accredited with ACCSC for 13 years.  I've found them to be fair and consistent in their application of standards, most of which are pretty common sense.  In some instances (and it makes me a little crazy sometimes) ACCSC standards are nebulous leaving the school to determine certain quantatative issues such "appropriate amount of" or "reasonable and sustainable".  For instance, ACCSC does not mandate how long a graduate must be on the job post graduation to be considered "employed in field", only that it must be a reasonable… >>>
