Expectations put all students on the same page. Some students have great study habits and then others do not. This is why expectation must be communicated to everyone. The class expectations need to be consistent and clear. It cannot be assumed that every student understands what is expected.  The Online instructor must use announcements to post expectations and provide the students with a means for ask questions. </div>					<!-- </p> -->

Grading can be subjective process and a grading rubric makes the grading more objective. This is especially true on writing assignments. A rubric establishes specified criteria for scoring .The rubrics scoring must be specific to what counts and must be a measurable to differentiate between the levels of learning. If students were asked to clearly discuss two leadership styles. The rubrics would need to score the level of understanding that a student has, in leadership styles. The objectives of the learning need to be clear as well. They also need to know what they will get from learning this new skill. The student is basically looking for the reason why they should be learning something new. Students will not be willing to invest their time or effort into something that they believe has no value to them. The traditional student receives daily face-to-face interactions with the instructor. An online student does not receive the face-to-face interaction with an instructor. All students have learned that the daily face-to-face interaction with an instructor is part of learning and that it is essential to the learning process. This is what students have learned from experience. The students may have chosen an online course but they have no idea what to expect from an online course.
