I have learned that any C codes must be addressed as quickly as possible, as they can delay the disbursement of federal aid.

The verification process is one of the most important steps in ensuring that a student is eligible to receive federal financial aid.

The FAFSA application offers several ways to complete it. A student who would otherwise be considered dependent may qualify as independent if she is expecting a child, provided the child is born during the academic year and the student can demonstrate that she will provide at least 50% of the child’s financial support. If these conditions are not met, the student must still include her parents’ information on the FAFSA.

The school should have more FA materials for the students to review; it could be placed in the student breakroom or just info sent to their school email.

There should be a Senior Exit checklist and counseling session right before the student graduates to ensure the student have the necessary information for when their student loan payments will start.

It is good practice for students to have references for the institution and once they graduate.

The consistent use of posters and pamphlets in offices and classrooms, beyond the Financial Aid office, signals to students that the institution upholds clear and consistent standards. Presenting the Financial Aid process as an educational experience, rather than an intimidating one, helps students feel more informed.

This was great information; they're so many layers to staying in compliance with the department of education.

I've learned the importance of maintaining a separate account for federal funds. I also learned how crucial the involvement of all departments is in ensuring a program remains compliant and avoids being selected for a Department of Education review.

This information was very helpful, as it supports financial aid officers in maintaining compliance while also ensuring that students remain compliant with federal funding requirements.
