What are you looking for from the results of the students performing lab exercises? Which is more important? Results or the proper knowledge of the correct path to follow to get the desired results! As a Factory automotive instructor we want our students to become entry level tech when they complete the necessary training to become certified. Here we are trying to show that the path is just as important as guessing the final results based on previous labs. Give them the guidelines before they are enrolled and if they don't complete the assignments they fail. I sure admissions won't be happy with this but is needs to be done. They also have access to the library.
If they are held accountable they will either do it or fail.

My self I see this as a major reason to avoid e-teaching. I would much rather spend my time helping those who really desire it.
Personally I would try to have a one on one and remind them of the rules of conduct and if they choose to deviate from those it's time for them to go.

Being able to give more than text book ansewers.
Examples from your previous experience. If you can give them the help they need to understand the course they usually won't care who you are.
If they require documentation the school should be the one to provide your qualifications.

This type of training is not for every student. Not all of our students are comfortable with computers and some don't even have access to one except at school. It will be interesting to see how the new format works. Discipline in doing the work will be a major problem too!

First and formost you should ask "why are you here"? I ask all my students the first day of class that question. Is this a required course, like I'm having to take, or are you here because you want to be! If it's required you can show how the class will still benefit you if you put in the effort. Even though this is required for my teaching job and I have no desire to be an online instructor, I'm finding ways I can benefit from learning different approches to teaching.

As we go forward into our new online training program I'm afraid we will be loosing control of the learning process. In class motivation will become even more important because I'm seeing a huge difference in how our students are processing this information, if they do it at all.

I feel the student must have faith in the instution before he takes the plunge into this type of study. If the person on the other side of the computer fulfills the students needs that is all that is required. Certification by the school needs to be recoginzed by the proper accredidation governing bodies.

Being 65 years old I find this type of learning very difficult, othe other hand my sons do this type of learning all the time and find it easy.
They like the way they can pick and choose when they study. I'm a hands on learner and this type of learning is just a bunch of words to me.

Being 65 years old I find this type of learning very difficult. My learning style is hands on, learn by doing not reading about something and nothing to touch.
On the other hand my son is very good at this type of learning. He can visualize the content where I have no imagination and it's just a bunch of words.
