The decades of social media has changed the world traval and toursim industry in a fundemental way. Today's hospitality industry exceedinly relys on social media to engage customers and clients in dialogue and recognize their needs. 

Studying this module prompts me to modify our hospitality & tourism education curriculum in the near future.  The updated curriculum should certainly incorporate the concept of responsible social media use as a critical component of global digital citizenship and as an essential skill for employability.

Maintaining virtual exchanges with our international partners is particularly important in the era of pandemic.  I like how the five tips for global collaboration begin with the right mindset.  Also, the prompted questions on how to prepare your students for global exchanges are useful.

The Global Industry Analysis Assignment questions are helpful.  The Work-Based Learning in California research report is a comprehensive document. It provides a comprehensive model for WBL. 

We have been practicing WBL through hospitality international internships. In the age of pandemic, we have shifted our WBL to computer simulations - Knowledge Matters Case Simulations.  

I agree.  We could certainly shift to have more of a global perspective with our advisory committee.  Over the past years, we have been working with our industry partners and implimented a hospitality international internship program (both inbound and outbound).  The pademic put the program on pause. 

The TPM six strategies for building a talent supply chain sound viable.  The approach of organizing Employer Collaborative can be a great start. The animated PBL project was a good example.  Also, I found the "Global Career Readiness Rubrics" helpful. I'm actually using one of the rubric for my course project assessment.  The examples listed as formative and summative assessments in this module are useful as well. 

My Introduction to the Hospitality and Tourism course already has a multicultural awareness component.  I made changes to the course description emphasising on a global tourism context.  Early this semester I was able to integrate global competence and employability skills assignments/projects in the course as both formative and summative assessments.  

However, modifying course learning outcomes can be challenging as the decision has to be made and consented by a group of faculty members (Program Coordinator Council) across the University of Hawaii Community College system.  There is an articulation agreement that aligns the course learning outcomes for the same course offered… >>>

I enjoyed the Columbia University video on Conceptual Learning. We learn by connecting information to what we already know. The idea helps me to instruct the students to make more connections to the prior knowledge and then hold on to that knowledge for new learning.  

The Thinking Break scenario is useful.  Those questions prompt me to better guide the students in making career field connections and effectively investigating cultural communication styles.

I have integrated Global Comptence Modules into my Hospitality & Tourism courses.  Students are required to complete the four modules to earn credits.  In the meantime, our program at University of Hawaii Maui College is organizing a webinar focusing Regenerative Tourism on Island Community. The webinar is scheduled for November 17th, 2021- the date falls under the International Eduaction Week 2021.
