This forum has enlightened my on the benefits interactive white boards, wikis and blogs as well as tablets to encourage student collaboration and development of content themes and a way to promote student involvement. I will incorporate the mobility concept within my class, which will allow for organized and continuous learning.

This forum’s main focus is on understanding the various learning styles of online students to ensure equity and equality. I gained an understanding on how this generation of students are nomadic, meaning technology has afforded them the opportunity to learn anywhere using digital devices. I learned a term that I was unfamiliar with and that is the concept of mobile multi-connections, referring to blogs, wikis, twitter and live-feed connections.

This forum covered many topics that will strengthen me as an online teacher. This forum gave me the understanding that the internet provides many tools that allows for increased connectivity between students and teachers, students and students as well as students and content. There are various ways that the internet maximizes student engagement. Embedded links, blogs, videos etc. provide students the ability to explore and retrieve a plethora of information to enhance any lesson. I will be sure to use and incorporate many of the resources and tools that the internet has to offer to engage my students.

This forum taught me the 6 principles of media strategies that I can incorporate in my online courses. This media strategies are text, graphics, animations, complex artwork and photography, audio and video. By using these multimedia strategies it helps to engage students during the online instruction.

This forum explains the importance of identifying course competencies within the online course. This is done by creating a course syllabus and including the course title, course code and course description. Online lectures should reflect contents that mirror the in class lecture. Incorporating discussion questions, chats, posts and quizzes.

What I have learned from this forum is how to create effective interaction and communication within the class. The use of assignments, discussions, asynchronous and synchronous chat, integrated hyperlinks as well as reading materials. This is information I will be able to use when I teach online.

What I have learned from this module is understanding that E-learning is learning that enables the use of the internet. E-learning is characterized by structural integrity, navigational simplicity, active learner-centered learning and intellectual interaction. Structural integrity which refers to the how the course is segmented into modules and lessons. Navigational simplicity refers to how the learners easily move throughout the course.  E-learners have varied learning styles that is why active learner-centered learning is essential, by using multimedia delivery methods to engage learners.
