I wonder if, in the early assessment of a student we couldnt develop better lesson plans that started with the big picture for all students and then went to the direct application so each learner was engaged? Each student should feel as though they are learning, but with a limited amount of class time it is difficult to address each type of learner.

I wonder if, in the early assessment of a student we couldnt develop better lesson plans that started with the big picture for all students and then went to the direct application so each learner was engaged? But would that be effective, would there be enough time in the lecture… >>>

I understand that you have to educate the students on the course material, but I sometimes find it hard to break the content into a buffet line when there is so many concepts in the same lecture period. It is almost like the buffet that never ends!

I try to use class breaks in between topics that allow the students to take a rest before we begin the next 'buffet' and I find that it helps.… >>>

However, when the makeup tie is then extended and extended, you want to be fair to all of your students but at some point the extenstions have to stop. The only forseeable problem is that some students by the middle of the course have potentially given up on the course.

Theory does not have the hand on need of some courses, but the way in which theory is conveyed opeds the doors for multiple media types such as white boards, ppt, and demonstrations.

The difficulty comes when the theory is difficult to convey and you want the students to learn but you end up training. It is hard to find that balance between training and instructing.
