I learned that I am more an introvert and that I need to be more of a combination of an extrovert and introvert.  Everyone has their own way in which to network, and we can all learn from each other on ways in which to network better.

I have learned how to network better and how to conduct conversations with other people who are networking.   This will help me to be able to assist our students to meet potential employers from information gathered from people that I meet.

I learned the importance of social networking and how to work this to the advantage for the students.  Social networking will help increase the wages for the student and will help them receive promotions and advancement in their careers.

I have learned that keeping data is vital to the institution.  It will help develop our students better from a Career Services perspective.  It can also help the institution with getting employers to sit on our board that can help us with ideas on how to develop our students better for the workforce.  Alumni can help us develop a plan to help current students find employment and to help us change curriculum in the ever-changing world of nursing by telling us what is changing in the workplace.

I learned that the students should start considering their resume from day 1 and not wait until they are closer to graduating like I initially believed.  I am planning to do mock interviews as well as informational interviews with perspective employers prior to graduation so that by the time graduation comes they have already met some local employers in hopes that those employers have open positions for them.

I learned that Career Services is an integral part of an educational institution.  I will be holding resume writing classes, keeping a book listing job resources, and reaching out to employers in our area.  Helping our students find job placement is an excellent way to promote long-term relationships with our graduates and they can even help our current students to succeed by seeing how we helped past students find employment.

It is important to train the students well, which is our most important goal.  We want the best graduates from our school as possible.  We want our students to succeed and want them to be sought out by local employers prior to graduation so that they can meet their career goals.  Our school is new and have entered this role fairly recently.  These modules have helped me learn more about what I need to do to help our students succeed.
