Disengaged students present a challenge in the classroom. As an instructor you can feel when your students are slipping away so you need to be creative to reclaim their attention. I am a firm advocate of "show & tell". What I mean by this is that as I am lecturing I bring things that are tangible into the classroom so the students are not just listening but they are able to physically see and touch the things that are being discussed. This keeps them very interactive and encourages them to participate and ask questions.

@miriamdelcampo : Making every attempt to reach out to a student is critical to thir success. As instructors we need to use every way possible to do this. Email and phone messages can go without response from a student for quite some time but we need to keep trying and encouraging them.

This course was really helpful with finding new and creative ways to demonstrate a lecture. Especially for healthcare students. I got a lot of good ideas that I plan on trying in my classes. I strongly recommend it to everyone.

I found this course to give good insight into helping college students learning the English Language. I teach Dental Assisting so my students are not only trying to learn and perfect the english language but they also need to learn the language of dentistry as well. It gave me some ideas that I can implement in the classroom and lab.

Being an effective planner is key. Things will always come up that will force you to have to be flexible, but if you have a well structured lesson plan for at least two weeks at a time you should have no problem adapting.

We definetly live in the world of modern technology. This course gave me some insight on how to handle a classroom of mixed generations in this ever changing world of cyber space.

Everyone is a critical thinker about something. I found the logic and information in this course very enlightening and I strongly believe it will allow me to relate to my students on another level.

I found this course to contain some very valuable/insightful hints to managing the classroom. Being able to manage the behavior of a wide variety of students while instructing can be challenging. This was a great help.
