Critical thinkers need to know what 'makes then tick' so they know which angle to take when confronted with a paarticular situation and then over time judgement will be developed

to better understand critical thinking it is important to be patient to stand back assess the information and analize the content being presented. One should qestion and repeat critical thinking exercises to get a better understanding of it's benifits

We have the the benifits of 'pure' lecture so I normally start the class with this format to inform the studenst of all the necessary data that needs to be grasped, such as dates; times and places and then break into a more informal lecture/discussion format to involve the students

It is easy see the connection between the two styles by initially getting students involved with rewards certificates and praise until they reach that point where the students actually turn the corner and become Extrinsic learners and start to enjoy the lessons and activities without the need for 'prizes' this section was well laid out and easy to follow

As it has just been pointed out Humans retain more with hands on application, so while it is important to lecture and demonstrate we must not forget the positive benifit of getting students involved in hands on exercises. For example in a culinary program it is all very wel to lecture on classical knife cuts, but not until the students have a knife in their hand and are actually executing the cuts will the full benifit of tbe class be realised

Ways to intigrate technology in the course could range from powerpoints, emailing students, haveing class material excessible on line or on the chool student portal to inviting students to text questions or comments to you. this could also include 'You Tubing' a demonstration.

Ultimatley a well compiled lesson plan contributes to you becoming a more efficient instructor and creating a positive learning enviroment.

It is important to allow time at the beginning and at the end of the class to allow for questions at the beginning and a review at the end of class. because there might not be questions on a topic it is important ot be able to stimulate questions. The class will like it if the class finishes early but they still need to see the value of the time spent in class so finishing too early will always alienate some of the class as they will feel short changed.

with diverse learners and those with special needs it is important to identify what has worked in the past in order to incorporate any special teaching aides and ensure the students continued success
