When a school closes and prevents a student from completing their training, they are due a 100% refund from the owner if a teach-out is unavailable. If the owner fails to make the refund the TTA will provide the proportionate funds. Where does the TTA get their available funds?

Our organization has introduced a cutting edge method of teaching students the art of being an automotive technician. We have a blended learning that incorporates online web based training, instructor lead training, and hands on training. With the addition of web training it allows our students to have more "hands on" training due to the fact they can complete their online training the day before the lecture and have knowledge of the subject matter before the instructor even opens his mouth. This leads to more time in the lab with hands on experience.

Nothing can be more important than having a community partnership with your campus. There are many students how have significant needs that can be provided by community agencies. Here at our campus we have committed to "owning the local market". This includes meeting with our local schools and business to provide our students and future students the best possible learning experience and programs available to them.

I wasn't implying that you get involved with the student’s problems just your observation while they are in your class. Monitoring a student who can't stay awake or focused in class might be something as simple as not eating well or long hours at work. You can refer the student to the proper department for suggestions with a job change or food bank donations.

I have found out this is a great tool to motivate new students. We have former students come into the class room and share their "real world" experiences with new students. Once they see that a fellow student is successful and happy with their career choice, it motivates them to try harder and reach their goal. We also have a Wall of Fame where graduated students who have been accepted into advanced training programs can come and sign the wall in front of the new students and give testimony of how hard work and good attendance pays off.

Observe your students when they first walk into your class room. Body language can speak louder that words and set the stage on how a student’s day will be. If they seem troubled, upset or half asleep pull the student to the side and discuss what the problem is. Sometimes they only need someone to talk to and this will show you care about them as a person and how they perform in your class room.
