ChatGPT can be used with limitations, but students are already using it to write complete essays. Based on AI detection, I've had numerous essays flagged for 100% AI-generated writing. While that cannot be proved, the style of writing and vocabulary are often more advanced than the students' normal writing.

I am not in favor of promoting ChatGPT in the classroom, but students know more about it than I do and will use it anyway.

I learned about the Open AI founders and their intention to share information to the public. 

I did not learn anything new but like the idea of getting students' feedback on course facilitation and assignments more than once during the term. I teach 5-week terms, so the term moves quickly, but I think I could include a formative evaluation at about mid-term.

This lesson reinforced much of what we already do at my institution. I understand the need to give prompt feedback, and we have 48 hours to do so each week, but I still find it hard to always meet that deadline for students in a composition class. I am not sure any of the guidelines in this lesson will help me with that. 

I do appreciate the recommendation to not feel the need to respond to every student on a forum. I am required to reply to all, but I find that students wait for me to reply before going… >>>

It is important to have a structured workday that is planned during times that are less likely to interfere with the instructor's concentration and progress but also important to establish boundaries and to explain those boundaries to students and stick to them.

I tend to be "available" at all hours except when I am actually sleeping, which the students appreciate, but it does create expectations that I will always respond quickly at any time of the day or night. I need to establish a set time period and stick to it.

Instructors must understand their priorities and stay on task by organizing the course and the workload efficiently and practicing time management by sticking to an organizational plan and working in a space that is free of distractions. Also, students should be made aware of course expectations and approximate times needed to accomplish tasks.

I will organize my time more wisely by following some of the suggestions provided in this lesson. I particularly need to allot the proper time needed for assessing students' work.
