Trevor, great point concerning the ESL students. The reality here is all students are different and just as their are many different learning styles, we as instructors can match that with applying different teaching methods. Even within the same classroom group different strategies may need to be applied to different students. Not one size will fit all and trying to force such a situation tends to be the sign of weak instructional methodology. Glad you enjoyed the course and thanks for your awesome insight and comments. Eric, this is what the exceptional instructors do, inspire students to achieve above their own expectations. Great job. James Jackson

Anna, providing real-world examples is always a good technique. Great job using this in your teaching tool kit. James Jackson
Susan, what are your intrinsic and extrinsic motivators? Thanks for anything you can share. James Jackson
Kathy, what are your intrinsic and extrinsic motivators? Thanks for anything you can share. James Jackson
Trevor, what is it about seeing your students succeed inside and outside the classroom that intrinsically motivates you? Dig a little deeper and bring out how this situation makes you feel. Thanks for anything you can share. James Jackson
Laurie, great definitions. What would you say are the reasons you want to excel as a teacher and have a positive impact on your students? James Jackson
Denise, very well stated. When students ask for you by name, you know you are building relationships. When you add to this that your students are also learning and progressing on to successful careers then you have something really special. Thanks for sharing. James Jackson
Mathias, peer grading is a great technique. I would further this approach by adding some other critical thinking skills into the curriculum that allows students to demonstrate their knowledge of the new vocabulary through role play, case study, or some other form of written or oral presentation. The focus here is repetition and follow-up to the actual assessment process. James Jackson
Harrison, you bring forward some great techniques and I would recommend them to anyone. Just another food for thought type concept - Change the name from quiz/test to Preparation Awareness. The concept here is they are measuring what they need to further study. This keeps the focus on the more positive side of assessments. James Jackson
