I have learned the difference of asynchronous and synchronous discussion. Synchronous discussion is a lively discussion being conducted during the class i.e the chat box where students ask questions or interact with the instructor. Synchronous discussion is those discussion questions that are posted by instructors for students to answer during the allowed period.

Online learning is successful because it offers a convenience for a learner with limited time and options, to pursue further education. However, in order to make it effective method of learning it has to offer multitudes of ways for it to be engaging for the learner and not be entirely based on the power point lecture format. it has to offer multimedia for the user to understand the course work based on an individual's capacity.

I agree that online learning has added an element of flexibility to learning. I believe it is more effective if classrooms are 'Hybrid' rather than being entirely online. Utilizing a hybrid format for the learner allows them the flexibility of taking part of the course online but also allows them to engage and interact with their instructor and classmates in person. Ensuring that the student is receiving 'the best of both worlds".
