I had several conversations and did much research - my, it is time consuming!  I frequently went back to compare school reviews from consumers and then would find myself confused.  School reputations may not be the same as their numbers and it can be a struggle to reconcile the two for a student. I am also a nurse and recognize the sensitivity that comes with politically correctness and ensuring absolute sensitivity that it is difficult for me to feel clear on what is okay to say and what is not okay to say.  I believe in encouraging students but also believe in an upfront approach to difficulty.  This concept ought to also incorporate some of the integrity, honesty, and real representation of school expectations and program assignments. Instructors cannot look at accommodations as "passes" through courses but rather assistance to functional limitations.  If a single accommodation can be made that "removes" the functional barrier, then our students are back on the same playing field and are all given the same opportunity to succeed again.  Accommodation is not the easy pass but rather the removal of the stumbling block to create opportunity.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

I am not always familiar with the students in the classes that I happen to "pop" into to cover for a night.  There must be an appropriate level of communication between the primary instructor and myself to ensure adequate accommodations are made at all times.  What are some steps to ensure that I am asking the right questions?  As someone who may not be familiar with my students needs on a regular basis, what conversations should I be having with my director and instructor?

I understand that it can be frustrating for instructors to "feel imposed on" by making accommodations but it should be rather looked upon as a great opportunity.  We are allowing more individuals to achieve their goals and become fulfilled in their lives.   

This ought to be why one gets into teaching: to promote growth and impart skills to all individuals seeking to grow and learn.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

I am not always familiar with the students in the classes that I happen to "pop" into to cover for a night.  There must be an appropriate level of communication between the primary instructor and myself to ensure adequate accommodations are made at all times.  What are some steps to ensure that I am asking the right questions?  As someone who may not be familiar with my students needs on a regular basis, what conversations should I be having with my director and instructor?

	<div class="river_content_display">Enacting a law that limits and promotes opportunity for all individuals is not a program that should be frowned upon but should rather be embraced.  I understand that it can be frustrating for instructors to "feel imposed on" by making accommodations but it should be rather looked upon as a great opportunity.  We are allowing more individuals to achieve their goals and become fulfilled in their lives.   

This ought to be why one gets into teaching: to promote growth and impart skills to all individuals seeking to grow and learn.</div>					<!-- </p> -->
