About me

I have taught multiple levels in a BSN program in theory and clinical. I am currently full time in simulation lab.

Activity

Games keep students engaged and learning, but need to be well thought out and planned as any other lesson plan.

We need to convey the value of adding this technology as a teaching tool to the students. Maybe it will lkeep them using their tools for a useful purpose.

The use of tablets as a means of teaching is a valuable tool added to those we already use. Technology is not new to our students, they just need to use it in a different way and need to also learn how to make it useful in their studies.

I have taught theory and clinical in my past experience and am now in the simulation department. Although there is little time with each student which makes assessment difficult in real time, I believe it is easier to achieve online delivered virtually. After taking this module, I do believe I have a little bit orf revising to do.

I did not really think about or know the difference between normal and criterion referencing, but do now.

This module supports the need for assessment tools needed whether online or face to face. I assume they should be different tools since the delivery method is different and involves technology. The goal is the same though, to assess student learning. Thus as the module states, it is best to ask students and gather data for analyzing and possibly making needed changes. We always seek to provide the best learning experience and process.

I like many, have had the challenge of convertng a face-to-face course to online quickly due to Covid-19. I can see the many elements I incorporated into class, mentioned in this course. I do see one element I considered, but did not deliver fully. This course mentions assessment both subjective and objective, is a neccesity. I only sought subjective assessment, but will now include objective somehow. Maybe include a pre and post quiz or a game with scores? I am not sure yet, but will do some research and include it.

Good review. Many points are similar to on ground courses (knowing expectations/outcomes and communicating them to students).

In simulation we have historically used the QDEN tool for evaluation. In recent terms we began using the Creighton tool, but in this virtual environment I do not believe either of those assessment tools capture the technology effectiveness at all. I may work on including a few technology assessment questions to include in the student evaluation form.

I am not clear yet, but with this online challenge due to covid it is relevant.
