The first step must be to listen carefully. Some of us only hear what we want to hear and that puts us in a defensive mode.

We must be extremely careful when interacting with potential or current students not to make any misleading or questionable statements regarding the services provided. The results of inaccurate or deceptive statements could impact our institution and result in loss of federal funding. This action could be devastating and hamper our ability to provide necessary education and training in the future.

It is our duty and responsibility to our students and peers to promote honesty, integrity and accountability. Their first impression of us as an institution is a lasting one. It is much easier to be honest and truthful with everyone we come in contact with on a daily basis. When we instill trust and confidence, we don't have to make excuses and be dishonest. Our reputations should be one of the most valuable traits we possess. At our school, we strive to keep our students informed and up to date with the latest changes, procedures and happenings.
We have instituted a mentor/mentee process where staff and faculty are assigned a number of students to keep in touch with throughout the term. If they have any questions or concerns, we try to assist them if we can or direct them to the appropriate member who will.
Our students know our directors, staff and faculty are here to assist them and make their educational experience a joyful and fruitful one.
