About me

My name is Adrian and I am a full time Firefighter/EMT-I and a college professor in Columbus Georgia. I have been a Firefighter/EMT-I for about 10 years. This is my first year teaching College, but I've never been the one to back down from any challenge. I teach Emergency Procedures and I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Physical Education and Sports Fitness from Troy University. I also hold a Master’s of Science degree in Human Services with a Specialization in Social Community Services. I train athletes on the side to add to my educational background so if you need to get your power and over all conditioning up get at me.

Accreditation Vs Licensing

I think all students should know if there college is accredited before applying to that college. If you get a degree from a college which is not accredited in the long run that degree could mean the difference of getting a job or not. Most jobs will not even look at your degree if it is not from a college who is accredited.

ORIENTATION

It is never good to see a student GPA drop, but it happens all the time. When a student GPA drops below average the administration should try to find out why. Most of the time colleges have so many students which to them are all just numbers. That is why I love teaching on the small college level so I can see and get to know each one of my students needs and also give them the help they need to be more successful.

OACCS

It is always good to know the rules and regulations of your college. The OACCS can visit a college at anytime. I think it is always good to know what the Board and the OACCS aspect and abid by there rules so you and the college will not be punched for not following the rules.

It is always good to know the rules and regulations of your college. My college is very detailed about teaching there employees there rules. I think it is always good to know what you can do to help a student to be successful in college. Compliance rules are good for the College and should be used and followed at all times. Compliance rules keep you and the college out of hot water.

A quick self-assessment

I think this class was a big help, because we are in the occupation of helping students reach there goals. There will be many times when students will need to seek help from employees of the College about money, class, or enrollment issues. This class helped me to understand the process that is in place to help students address there individual issues that relate to college. This was a very good training tool.
