Hey there,

I'm a machinist and have been in the trade for over 25 years. I decided the player should probably try coaching so I am currently working as a substitute at a Machining Training School. I have hopes of taking this full time.

I have been subbing for about 3 months and have learned so much about myself. I learned I can speak in front of a group with confidence. I learned I really do enjoy watching a student complete a project that I taught them and see the happiness when they do well.

Hello to all

It's been a while since I last posted. I have been instructing for over a year now, have earned my CHEP cert. and still very much enjoy my new carrier.

My experience as a Machinist, has been invaluable, it has provided for me and my family, and I’ve been fortunate to have made components that have entertained, defended our country, and have advanced planetary exploration…in a small way.

New Instructor

Being a instructor is something I never thought I'd become. Being a Machinist for over 25 years is what thought I was going to do for the rest of my career.

Becoming an Instructor is something my wife suggested, but I didn't think I could do. I was never comfortable in front of large group of people, and I know I have the experience and knowledge, but I didn't feel I had the confidence of how to convey the information needed to becoming a machinist. My wife purely went off the fact that I enjoyed training new people, oddly enough… >>>

I have been in my field for 25 years, and I'm a new substitute instructor at a trade school. The course work has already been established. Right now I would like to have tips from other more experienced subs how they go about conducting classes that are random. Thank you in advance.

]]> As a new instructor (less than a year), I'm becoming increasingly more comfortable with the content that I have to present.  By no means am I perfect, but I do realize it's a work in progress.

Having a short 6 weeks to persent a lot of material presents a challenge to incorperate personal experance, but as I progress and become more comfortable, the easier I find time to enterject personal experances.
