In course 1 the instructor must be the absolute role model for the students. This requires high energy, and the ability to be to work early and stay late. The students must see the instructor in class well before the start time and he must be prepared and ready to teach as soon as the bell rings. The instructor must also be able to stay after class and answer any questions the students may have. Student Instructor evaluations

Does this really matter? I believe we have missed the reason for the evaluations and the information they can contribute. First, in order to get an accurate account of the effectiveness of an instructor is to explain how important the evals are to the instructor. If we just read the instructions and hope for valuable input we will get poor results. If the instructor explains that he needs positive feed back in order to improve his teaching style he can get the information back that he needs. Discipline versus motivation

Why do instructors feel the need to discipline a student at the drop of a hat? It seems instructors are eager to punish but late to coach and mentor. Too many instructors do not know how to treat students and take everything they do wrong as a personal attack on the instructor. I have found it is best to be friendly, but not their friend, talk not shout, discuss in private not in public.If this does not produce the results you are looking for, maybe it is time to look inward and find out more about yourself.
