Using various instructional delivery methods is effective in one main perspective:  diversity leads to productivity.  The more methods that are used, rather, the more effective methods that are used, the more the chances of success there will be for students' learning.  Technology has evolved to present day where there are various options to choose from as an instructor, so that the options are supposed to make learning effectiveness easier, albeit somewhat more challenging.  Choices may lead to overwhelming the teacher, but from what I gather from this module, there is no cookie-cutter method to success in learning.  As a teacher,… >>>

Knowing who your students are is most important in being successful as a teacher.  One thing I have done so far is to go a bit beyond to learn who my students are, and that means even taking the time to know them by name first (sometimes memorizing faces and names to remember them), then observe them by their personality types.

Setting goals and work-based learning go hand in hand with students gaining real world experience for the world of work.  Goals in job interviews, on work assignments and work sites, and for long- and short-term career objectives can greatly help students carve and navigate a path for their individual careers that can be beneficial, fruitful and fulfilling for a life's worth of work.

Goal setting is one of the most important activities students can fully participate in.  Setting meaningful goals gives students purpose, direction, and motivation to achieve their objectives in what they are striving to learn in their respective programs.

Learning goals are an effective way to have students attain and retain knowledge gained through both course instruction and practical application.  When students are able to customize the goals to either their preferences or familiarity, they tend to remember them more.  Our students became more engaged when we made a short film our class assignment.  The goals of learning drone flying techniques, understanding application of the classroom material needed to pass the FAA Part 107 exam, and teamwork building were encouraged and supported through the assignment.  Thus, the students learned more and understood more of the material covered in class… >>>

Equipping students with the tools to have them become active learners means to have an all-around approach that maximizes the potential to fully embrace and retain what is being learned.  From the standpoint of both knowledge retention and hands-on experience, the setting of goals is the key component:  a metric that can be used standardly as the ultimate measurement of progress from any student.

Self-monitoring and self-assessment are great methods of learning that are effective on impact for students.  Reflection provides growth on a personal level for students, then as that develops, it leads to professional growth in terms of CTE, in the classroom and in practical knowledge for work and/or work-based learning.

Keeping information organized helps students greatly with focus, problem solving, creativity and teamwork, respectively.  Tools that are covered in this module would help us greatly.  K-W-L charts, graphic organizers, routines and visual reminders are tools we could use to further our efforts, as we already incorporate advisory boards, note-taking, checklists and segments of working memory as part of our instruction methods for our drone program.  Our students' final goal is to take and pass the FAA Remote Pilot exam, so that coupled with practical exercises in flying the drones helps our students obtain the skills needed to be successful in… >>>

Helping students anticipate challenges and plan accordingly is essential for their success, especially in a CTE environment.  What we do in teaching our students about drones includes a pre-flight checklist, where the students learn to check to make sure the drone is operating properly and all batteries are charged before the flight.  This counts as project preparation, as well as instructions needed for the flight assignment.  Through this module, we could utilize the tools to help the student learners plan, as some of the techniques explained here we do already.
