It is the duty of employees, who work in post-secondary education, to provide students with opportunities to apply the ethical principle of beneficence. This principle is important, because students expect to benefit from their education. Furthermore, employees have a duty to present themselves as transparent, and provide students with information to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their education.

Preparing students in becoming willing participants, as active learners, can sometimes be challenging for instructors. Many will silently ask themselves, "What is in it for me?"
Helping students to see the importance of what they are learning and how that information can prepare them for success is beneficial for instructors and students.

I rely on my spiritual faith to help me to deal with stressors. I have also found that talking about situations that have caused me stress helps me to cope. The key is not keep bringing up negative situations and at some point let them go from your mind.

Career schools' expectations for the instructors are different from that of non-career schools. Career school instructors have to balance so many things. Things such as getting good instructor surveys and at the same time manage the behaviors of undisciplined students. Then there is attrition. Many students feel that they should be spoon fed their educations just because they are paying tuition. Entering into school is a big step for many students and many think that they have arrived. What they haven't accepted is the fact that they can get an education but if they maintain the same negative behaviors, attitudes… >>>

We can explain the risks to the students and present them with waivers but it would be misleading to do so if we know that they cannot get job in the healthcare industry. So why have students incur debts in the thousands of dollars for an education for which they will not be able to obtain gainful employment.

Students will complete programs even though they know that their negative background screenings may prevent them from getting jobs in the their fields of study. In the long run it hurts the programs' placement numbers. The students who are unemployable due to their background screenings should not be counted in the programs' placement numbers.

In South Florida there are many immigrants for which decoding do not work well. Often times these learners do not have a large vocabulary and therefore are unable to comprehend many concepts. Their rush and need to get an education so that they can earn a living often deters them from adequately preparing for school by attending ESOL classes.

It was noted in the reading that adult learners do not like to be held up in cumbersome regulations. In preparing students for the healthcare field having them to follow the rules and regulations that they sometimes feel are cumbersome is very important. Employees’ failures to follow some rules and regulations in the healthcare field cause many patient deaths and/or serious illnesses.

It is so true that by the time the student reaches the evening class he or she has so much stimulus from the events that occurred ealier in the day. The instructor has to create an atmosphere inwhich she or he can grab the student's attention in preparation for the new learning that is needed.

You are so right. Usually the students who are getting good grades want higher grades. Many times the students who are doing poorly will not want to put much effort into advancing. Some are satisfied with just passsing.
