I was a reporter, editor and columnist for various newspapers around the country, most recently the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. Since leaving journalism, I have been an educator and a consultant. I worked for Jerry Thomas Public Relations, where I was Vice President, for three years. Then I started my own company, GTB Communications. GTB has served a number of clients, advising their executives on everything from maintaining a Facebook page to preparing for TV interviews. But the most rewarding thing I have done since leaving journalism is teach. In addition to teaching at ECPI, I have taught at the University of Phoenix and Saint Augustine's University. At Saint Augustine's, I chair the Media & Communications Department. I have been married for 23 years and have two daughters, one a sophomore in college and another who is a senior in high school
