I enjoyed this module relating to the Y generation students. I have noticed,it is harder to manage cell phones in the lab environment. We have rules about the usage of cell phones in class and lab, but it has become harder to mange due to the increasing amount of technology that is available. I would prefer for the students to not use their cell phone for anything during class or lab, but again, when they are doing certain labs they may need a calculator, I think we can go on and on about the rules of not using cell phones… >>>

As an instructor, we should always use open ended questions to get are students interested in what we are doing in class, for some of our students that are shy, it helps them get questions ensured, so it reflects how much they are picking up in all of the lessons.

If you know the flow of your class that you have taught numerous times. What would happen if you start a new subject for the first time? I find it would be helpfull to plan learning activities that will be useful in making my students interested in the topic, fun, and engaging. These may or may not be used depending on timing of the class schedule.

My students seem to participate more if the lesson is on a componet that thay can see in the feld and comprehend more when they can relate to. in my class it will be a car or a truck trans.
At times you have to go back to the beginning and start with the basics. You may have to put yourself in their shoes and see what thay see. You may fined that you have to teach things outside of the box to help put things back into prospective. People learn and study in different ways by books, training aids or both.
I teach my students the same way I like to learn, hands on. I always try asking my students how they like to learn. Must of my students are hands on learners. Therefore having an item in their hand while I am speaking about it helps.

I have problems remembering all my students names in a 3 week class. I am up front with my students about this. I tell them it's a mental thing and not to be hurt by it. I also tell them that while I might forget their name I will always remember their face.

As a tech before an Instructor, I like to discus with my students some of the jobs that I have done in my career before.
The students become more open when there is life stories that they will see in the felled and they become excited about their schooling and become more interested in what we are learning.

Be a model that Students can relate to,Dont be afraid to make fun of yourself, i have no problem sharing the dumb things i have done over the years.the students love it all and relate to it.

If we as Instructors can help the students at the time the students needs us to, we may help the students overcome behavior problems and expres their trust in us for help in the future.
Students need to succeed.
