I am now aware the status of Directory Information disclosure in place at the time the student separated from the institution prevails. The school may opt to honor former student requests to change their status for handling Directory Information.

I was not aware of the option to disclose information on any student under age 21 regarding a violation of an institutional rule or federal, state, or local law regarding the use of alcohol or a controlled substance, as long as state law permits such release. 

I have been trained on FERPA for many years. However, I was not aware of The Family Policy Compliance Office (FPCO)  who is authorized by the Secretary of Ed to investigate, process, and review complaints under FERPA that are submitted to the DOE

You need to know your role and professional responsibilities. Do not overstep the boundaries of your role, but instead refer the perspective student to the appropriate individual who can assist them with their questions regarding their need for accommodations.

Equal access to education, for everyone, is a responsibility we should all take seriously. Despite facing challenges, many remarkable individuals persevered and found a success despite their disabilities.; Presidents Lincoln and Roosevelt, Steven Hawking, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Albert Einstein, Picasso, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, just to name a few.  

This section enlightened me to the vast array of disabilities that may or may not be clearly evident to another individual, including mental health related issues. We need to provide support to these individuals to help them to be successful in their college experience.

I learned that communication training and behavioral therapy can assist someone with Asperger's syndrome to be successful.
