Being able to change or adapt your communication style to match that of the prospective student can be difficult, requiring us to look at things from a different perspective and change our process, but in doing so we are able to connect with the student and develop a bond that makes the rest of the process much smoother and more succesful.

I have been at this for quite some time now, (when I started, I didn't have email) and I have seen the admissions process change a great deal over that time. For all that, while how we communicate with potential students may be very different, the end goal, and hopefully result remains the same!

One of the better ones I've taken, I really did learn a lot. That being said, there was an annoying error in the pre-tests. It seems to m,e there are 2 possible correct answers, based on the text, but one of them came back as negative (the one specifically listed in the answer!)

Q. Which should Ben do to effectively negotiate Howard's work arrangement at this point?

A1.  Ask several other managers to let Howard know how much he's valued at the company

A2.  Detach emotionally and focus on producing the best possible outcome???

A3.Separate personal issues from negotiating issues… >>>

You are absolutely right Richard! While there may be some such career schools that aren't giving the student the tools they need to succeed in the workplace, the same can be said of many more traditional schools as well. The simple fact is that there is no single perfect school format that is best for everyone. 2-4 years of school simply isn't appropriate for all students - some will do much better in a focused, career oriented training program like ours. We are a technical school also, and I see the results (the actual job placement rates) at our school and others… >>>

I'm kind of an old-timer here, been doing this quite a long time.  I really wasn't familiar with the "Funnel" concept, as used in this way, although like a lot of the questioning techniques listed here I realize I have been doing it on a daily basis without knowing it. All the same, having seen it broken down and explained in this way will allow me to improve on the process dramatically I think. No matter how well you know your job - there's always room to learn more and improve!
