Outside of looking on the websites, some vital resources such as Staff Meetings and Admissions Meetings & Trainings can help us all to be updated on information, such as policies, procedures, etc. (items like transfer of credits, accreditation, etc.), and any changes that may occur that effect the school directly or indirectly. 

It is important to know the school that you are working at: Know the policies and how to access the information. Know the different Departments and what their roles are at the school. Know "Who-is-who?" within the organization, it's good to match a face with the name as well, and if you can build a working relationship with the staff, then that's even better, especially if you bump into the staff while taking a student on a tour (to talk with them), it will benefit the prospective student.

Following the College's admissions and enrollment process is a mandatory part of the job. In order to help prospective students become future students we need to guide the students through this process, and so you want to become, not only familiar with the process, but very efficient with it. Being organized is also the key. 

Admissions Training is critical, regardless of how long or short someone has been in the field. Things are always changing within the organization as well as regulations which may be mandated by Accrediting bodies, or local, state or federal authorities. Having access to updated training info. and school info. (catalog, policies, etc.) is vital. 

It is critical to have a system in place of checks-and-balances, whereby there is separation of duties and departments, i.e., Admissions does not do testing, Financial Aid does not do Admissions and vice-versa. This is also operating with integrity and quality control. 

There is a lot of information to digest here and it would probably be best to save the links for a lot of these regulations and guidelines, but again, transparency and honesty and integrity seem to be the theme here as well. :)

Transparency is the key when recruiting, and conducting ourselves in an up-front and honest manner. We want to live by the Golden Rule of "Treat others as you want to be treated (if not even better)." If you put yourself in the shoes of the student, then you usually can't go wrong.

It was a very informative session. I can understand why certain policies are set in place by educational institutions: To protect the rights of potential students/consumers, as well as the schools themselves, to ensure that there are no violations of local, state and federal regulations, and it is to also provide transparency to the students/consumers.
