One of the ways I cope with stress is by taking ballroom dance classes.  I have a standing weekly class in my calendar.  There are some times when the day gets away from me and I think, "If I cancel my dance class, then I'll have more time to do ___________________."  And sometimes I actually used to cancel them and end up being more stressed and frustrated.  Now that I keep my weekly dance class, I find that it's a fantastic stress reliever for many reasons.

I've been using a general outline/checklist to keep me on track in the classroom (I am a newbie college professor -- this is my first class, first semester).  Many times I feel like I'm just "winging" it and regurgitating the text book in a condensed format. 

I'm going to attempt doing lesson plans for next semester.  I'm interested (at least for myself) to see if there is a difference in my classroom management.

Hello, I just recently started my first adjunct position. I was hired rather late in the process -- only received my textbook and syllabus for the course I'm teaching 3 days before classes started. I'm finally at the point where I'm not feeling completely frantic about preparing, but I also feel that I am unable to devote as much time as I would like to preparing in some instances.
