If, students are able to do my in-class quizzes correctly, the result is that they will do well on their research papers. So, all of my work is a pre-test.  I first pre-test by giving the students an article on a powerpoint slide and ask them how to cite it.  This, of course is after I have explained citation and how it works, and why it is so important.  Then, I show the correct format, and ask for questions. However, I really try to encourage them to realize that all of the information they need to do successful research is available via the library's website 24/7!  We have research guides, databases, how to study, how to do research papers, how to cite a paper.  Then, of course, I encourage students to ask questions.  There isn't a STUPID question!  Librarians can assist students in cutting research time down and becoming more successful.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

So, instead, I use Powerpoints to outline my presentations and then I give live presentations for my library instructions, trying to get students involved in the discussions as much as possible.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display">As a librarian, the tests I give are always practice, sometimes instructors give points, we tell the students this ahead of time.  If, students are able to do my in-class quizzes correctly, the result is that they will do well on their research papers.  If, someone is having trouble I offer them the solution of stopping in and asking for more assistance.  </div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display"><p>As, a librarian my tests are not for points while I am teaching but for points students will receive in their research papers for excellent citation and reference pages.  So, all of my work is a pre-test.  I first pre-test by giving the students an article on a powerpoint slide and ask them how to cite it.  This, of course is after I have explained citation and how it works, and why it is so important.  Then, I show the correct format, and ask for questions. However, I really try to encourage them to realize that all of the information they need to do successful research is available via the library's website 24/7!  We have research guides, databases, how to study, how to do research papers, how to cite a paper.  Then, of course, I encourage students to ask questions.  There isn't a STUPID question!  Librarians can assist students in cutting research time down and becoming more successful.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

	<div class="river_content_display">I found this a very helpful idea.  Powerpoints tend to be the outlines of the 21st century.  However, I find that students really get bored with them.  So, instead, I use Powerpoints to outline my presentations and then I give live presentations for my library instructions, trying to get students involved in the discussions as much as possible.</div>					<!-- </p> -->

My instructor style is to ask students questions about library services, databases, research assistance, have they used the databases remotely, etc.  This usually works out well because the students seem to feel like they are part of the lesson experience, instead of just receivers of information that I am talking to them about. It's important that librarians determine what method will help him/her find the information needed to complete the assignment.  Will, a student need a couple one on one sessions, or a quick tour or how to get around the library.
