I wasn't aware that my teaching preference would be the same as my learning preference. It is important to understand that and use a variety of styles of teaching so everyone can succeed. It's important to reflect and make sure that everyone is up to speed and is understanding the course work. 

It's important to understand the difference in languages and how that can affect students understanding of course material. It's important to make sure every student has the resources they need to succeed. 

I definitely think it is important to see each student as an individual who has the potential to be a great student when they are included. I don't mean included as being color blind either. The USA is often referred to as the melting pot because of the diverse population. I like to include other cultures by asking questions and having a potluck on a lecture day and every student bring a dish popular to their family or ethnicity to share with others and we can talk about our differences and how they can impact each other and ourselves. I have learned that we all have some kind of stereotype and unconscious bias hat we may have been raised around or with and how limiting it is to us and to our students. By making a conscious effort to get to know every student and their background can create a positive all-inclusive learning environment and potentially learn something new from everyone. 

This module helped breakdown how I can assist the students to learn in a productive environment taking into account different life/work experiences and fostering a "safe" zone for students to come and learn the skills they need to be proficient and ready to work among their peers with confidence. Giving positive feedback and encouragement helps students stay focused on the content provided and to respect their time and my own.
