Reply to Robin Wiebe's post:Robin I agree with you that with an online class, it would be extremely difficult to investigate or prove staking. unless someone becomes careless and post something that brings up a "red" flag, it would be difficult.

Reply to Lisa Creach's post: Lisa I do agree that we must investigate the complaint, but what do we do with the information other than giving a copy/statement to the department of Education. Then what?

Since we are responsible for investigating the issue. My concern would be that the person envolved my take revenge on that person. (accuser). Even to the point of physical harm or death.  there's a lot of reports on retalilation especially to women that goes unreported, how can we protect them after the investigating?

Reply to Tricia Reichert's post:Tricia, I agree with you. Since you are an online source, it is extremely difficult to do because you can't be transparent when working online. the role of Title IX Coordinator becomes an issue when discussing issues online and protecting sensitive information.

Confidentiality is important, but so is respecting someone privacy. Some how it seems like conflict, what do you think?

It seems that everyone envolved should hace a code of descrection and silence. The Title coordinator must be trust worthy and anyone else that share the infomation must also uphold giving out personal information about the victim. I strongly belive that if there's a leak within the organization, the campus suffers.

I also thought that it was interesting to know that we must report incidents if we found out about it on facebook or some other media. 

Reply to Robin Wiebe's post: Robin, How is the act their to protect the student if nothing is done with the information?  I thought that each Institution was suppose to get the information and make a report, then send to the Department of Education and do nothing else.

Am I understanding it correctly?

I feel that each institution log each incident and have a recording on what actions took place and follow-up to ensure that the occurrance or claim has been resolved. To just record the accident is not enough.

Example: I recall a Coach from Penn State who knew someone from his staff was acting and using his position of power to harsass Young Men for years. Finall result the Man received a long Jail sentence and Penn State was fine for 50 Million dollars for not reported and following up eaxch incident. I believe that the School or Institution is responsible.… >>>
