I see all my student equally. Because I see no age difference or treat anyone differently because of age, I have never had in 10 years, had an issue regarding age. Students follow how the instructor reacts or responds. :)

Any idea's on how to get through to and keep a student who has enrolled because their parent wanted them to take a class/program, and they did not? I can keep some of them motivated and semi interested through out the core class sessions, but loose them when they go to externship.

The learner who has hurdles can and 99 % of the time achieve their goals if you, the instructor, shows incouragement, shows faith in their abilities, and takes that extra step to help them succeed

There are several different diversities an instructor comes across on a daily basis. I believe the key to student success in these area's is to sit down one on one with the student and get an idea to what actually works for the student and what you as the instructor can do to make learning achievable for the student. Then incorperate what works, into your daily teaching.

Careful thought should be put into organizing a learning group. If you have a group of 20 students, it is important that you create groups that have multiple types of learners in them, meaning, do not put all the real quick learners in one group, and all the slow learners in another, etc. and maybe establish a group mentor. I perfer the verbage mentor or leader.

I find that multiple communication is a must to be successful in the class room. I use my voice, the white board, and demontrate. These three methods grab and are effective for most all students. The listening learner, the written learner and the visual learner.

I have made this mistake, not intentionally, but I have done it. My plate is full with creating new cirricullm, I have students having a hard time grasping the material, I have another instructor call out, and my anxiety shines on through. When this happen's, immediatly it shines through in my students. So it is SO important, we as instructor's, stay focused on what we are doing at that moment with the students and let nothing eles filter through. If we don't our students start carrying the same anxiety

I have had a few students with anger issue's through out my years of being an instructor. I find if I take just a short amount of time to listen to the student, maybe speak on an understanding level, give a bit of ground advice, the anger usually subsides. It just takes a bit of dedication and listening and I find I can get a hold on almost any situation and turn it around in to a positive light.

We all have had them.. The 1st and most important thing an instructor should not do, is give up on that student..The instructor needs to try to get to the bottom of the issue.. Generally if a student thinks that just one person cares, the issues that are so big, usually subside. 9 times out of 10, a challenging student needs just a little bit of positive attention and reenforcment, and they thrive from there on forward
