Announcements within the LMS will be more streamlined than e-mailing everyone. E-mails are really important for making one on one contact, but announcements to everyone in LMS will save time by reducing responses from students. Having the course syllabus established helps spread out the big projects and lets you be sure you sprinkle in enough smaller activities, while still having time to grade the bigger projects. 

I liked the idea to have an area where students can help each other answer questions/ find possible solutions.  I also appreciated the behavior management tips. I wil think of the individual e-mail as I would just the one on one suggestions you make throughout your day in the classroom: Necessary but not a big deal if dealt with early to steer student back on track.

I appreciated the information about online learning styles, and see the need for identifying the avoidant, competitive, and dependent learners. What I am still wondering is how to engage the avoidant student, but one-on-one synchronous chat early on might help. I will try to use more emoticons and colors and engaging visual and audio additions in my asynchronous lessons.

We need to know that we are on a good team. Telling students about our teaching credentials can help give the students confidene in their "coach". Having the students produce short biographies will really help me get to know them. The students dread this a bit, but I refer back to it often in the beginning of the year as I try to make connections with my students. I suggest asking secondary school students to tell me 2 or 3 possible jobs/careers they would like. I liked the idea for students to add teacher expectations, to make them think and… >>>

This Intro gave me food for thought. I had not thought about the timing of quizzes or other assessments.  I can't expect every student to be on the same page, yet for my courses, I envision a sequential pathway.
