It will take dilligence in setting up a great learning environment. 

It is important to really get to know your students.  This way yu can figure out which teachimg methods to use. If you have a group of highly motivated students, let them engage often and even give them leadership roles so that they can actually own the class.  You also need to be willing to have individual sessions with each student and check on them.  Take mental notes of students that appear to be as engaged as others.  Do not just forge ahead. I learned that it is important to be completely prepared.  YOu must be organized and 4 steps ahead of the students.  You must comunnicated clearly and thoroughly.  I would personally set deadlines on all assignments whether they are done together or by one's self and hold them accountable even though they can do the assignments at their own pace, they still have to be done within reason.  I would also constantly provide both and make my classes as interesting as possible.  But you also have to have strong control of your learning environment and exude confidence.  You will lose the… >>>
