The main thing I took away from this module is how to make more effective rubrics. My rubrics feature 3 described levels of mastery and are in ascending order. However, the module indicates that it is better to have an even number of levels of mastery and to lay them out in descending order. I will make these changes to my rubrics moving forward and will then assess the results.

I've learned that there is a difference between norm and criterion based assessments. Criterion based assessments seem most useful in the context of my courses, but norm based assessments could be useful for helping me to determine the perfomances of current students vs prior cohorts to see if they're better grasping the material (or not).

I learned the difference between diagnostic and formative assessment. I had always thought of diagnostics being formative, but I see now that they are simply to see where students are at before study begins and that formative assessment is to see what they're understanding and not understanding while learning that material. 

I learned that it is essential to choose assessment tools which are appropriate for the assignments being given. In order to choose the best tool for the given assignment/set of outcomes, one must fully research and understand what is available before deciding on a particularl assessment tool. 

I learned that state and institional laws on consent are both required to be provided to people by the particular institution they attend/work at.

I learned that there is some leeway under Title IX as it relates to certain procedures. So, hearings and appeals, for example, are up to the individual schools to provide. There is no requirement for these things under Title IX. Ultimately, I've learned that there is a lot of work to be done by the Title IX Director and other appropriate parties to come up with policies for grievance procedures of this nature.

I learned that there are various "Responsible Employees" who assist the Title IX Director in her/his responsibilities as it relates to reporting on sexual misconduct and violence. I intend to learn who the responsible employees are on my campus to know more people who can help with the issues if/when they occur.

I learned that the Title IX Director is the person to whom reports of sexual misconduct and violence should be sent to. I also learned that there are various "Responsible Employees" who assist the Title IX Director in these responsibilities. I intend to learn who these responsible employees are at my campus in order to know more who can be contacted if/when these events occur.

I learned that VAWA and Title IX overlap as it relates to sexual misconduct and crimes. I also learned that VAWA ammended an earlier act instituted to lessen the frequency of sexual misconduct and crimes on campus and to promote awareness and respect for all.

I get that there are FERPA implications with posting recorded live online sessions. However, I know that many teachers/professors are recording zoom sessions and posting them to their institutions' LMS's so students can go back and view them. How is it that they're able to get permission to do this?
