Building rapport is important and I do that with all my students. I consider their internal, external and circumstantial issues and meet them where they are. I communicate with emojis as to effectively communicate my emotions through technology. In the classroom I am able to respond immediately. So, the thing I plan to work on the most is responding faster and arranging my messages appropriately and more effectively.

Everything you communicate and how you arrange and present it matters!

You can’t rely the same communication methods from a traditional classroom to online learning

I learned the 7 characteristics of an online learner.

I’ve learned that. Helping professional relationship with students is import. I will ensure I continue to build rapport and meet them where they are while facilitating a class environment that fosters growth. I will ensure to communicate necessary information in a timely fashion and be available for communication during a specific time.

I’ve learned that correcting behavioral issues swiftly is the best policy. I have been setting expectations for my students on the first day of class and gently reminding them throughout. I’ve noticed that doing that eliminates a lot of issues upfront. If I can do that in a traditional classroom setting, I can also apply that to online learning.

I learned that you should limit synchronous learning to one student at a time depending on need for further explanation and clarification

From experience students are more engaged when they are familiar with your personality and a rapport is built.

In my experience, studying the material before teaching a lesson, even when you are vary familiar with the material, allows you to be better prepared to present the course material with your own spin and personality.

When you know what you know and it’s ingrained in you, teaching with personality that will keep your students engaged becomes so much easier. Studying and looking over the material gives you the opportunity to bring your personal experiences and the course material together to tell a story instead of just lecturing.

I learned to familiarize myself with all course material and the CMS so that I can answer questions my learner may have about either.
