I believe the biggest takeaway is to also look at ourselves. We must ask ourselves am I meeting the student's needs? There are many types of students, and we just learned they each require a different approach. If we use one cookie-cutter technique, we are doing an injustice. 

I must say the one video about ambiguous behavior speaks volumes. How many days have we ruined and not have even been aware of doing so? 

I loved the "Put the golden rule principle into effect in your class". This is something I believe we question ourselves about time and time again. Are we giving enough grace? Do we need to lower the benchmark? These are questions we all ask making sure we are advocating for student success? However, as advocates, we must not lower our standards of excellence. 

I learned that we must vary our instructional style to meet the various learning styles of our students. We must also use a catchy introduction at the beginning of our lecture to spark curiously of the learner. I will also be adding the idea of handing out notecards at the start of class and have students write their questions down. This will be a great way to clarify muddy points, especially in those students who are more timid. 

I learned that the students should get to know each other on the first day. Most faculty understand the importance of an icebreaker. These are used to help the studnets connect. My quetsion is, are the icebreakers used focused on the students connecting to one another or do they focus on other things- like humor? I will be sure to include icebreakers that promote student to student interaction. This will allow me to give my students the oppurtunity to learn about one another. 

I just wanted to comment on how much I enjoy the videos included. They are very helpful and give a quick example of what the models are teaching us. I learned the syllabus should convey a sense of excitement about the course. I feel this is extremely important. I believe this is an element that can be easily forgotten when creating a syllabus. 

I really enjoyed this model. professionalism is something we all know, but it is easy to become comfortable. Humans adapt to their surroundings. We must be certain that we do not become "chameleons". We are role models for our students. We must remember the five C's: credible, candid, compassionate, committed, and clear.  We should dress the part, be on time, be confident, and be a leader. 

I liked the additional resources that this lesson included. I will also be using the SMART format in the future. 

I enjoyed having examples and descriptions of formative assessment ideas. As a new faculty, I am always looking for new ways to engage my students. I have always used "the muddiest point". I really liked the idea of "self-assessment" and letting the students use sticky notes and place them on the board. This strategy will get the students up and moving and allow me to assess where their level of understanding is currently. 

I enjoyed the statement, "Students need to see the value...". I also was grateful to have a refresher on Bloom's Taxonomy and how to write objectives.
