I have been in the field of mathematics education for nine years and I am enjoying it. I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree from Florida Memorial University in Middle Grade Mathematics, my Masters of Science degree in Innovative Mathematics from Nova Southeastern University and currently a doctoral candidate in Educational and Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.

My long term goal is to become a superintendent of a school system and my short term goal is to be a principal of a school and a provost. I enjoy working with people and I believe that "education is worth is value in gold".

Going forward, "If you do the same thing all the time, you will get the same results. In order to get a new outcome you must try something new". So, I ask you to actively participate, share your ideas, and pose questions that may prove stepping stones for others. Be in the "present moment" in class, active and focused and you will learn and experience things to that same degree.

In many colleges and universities they are removing remedial classes as far as mathematics and reading. Currently, the scores for the entrance exams are going up every year, and the rate of college students is slowly decreasing. The concern that I have is we are training a generation of test/assessment robots online for the minimal requirements, but when it’s time for them to internalized that information to get in post high arena, they are falling short. What can we do to bridge this gap of the assessment generation.

Who or what is the most important element in student performance? I want you to read the statement before making your decision.

The school is located in a low-socio economic community. The trend data for student’s performing on or above grade level in Algebra I on the state standardize assessment has been a 19% out of approximately 500 ninth grades in the past 8 years. The community has not change and the students are the same students from the surrounding community. Last school year the students performed at a 65% proficient rate on grade level of the Algebra I state… >>>

I agree with this totally. When I became a teacher, I made two promises to myself. The first was, I would never stop learning to ensure I gave my students the best and the other was never to turn into that boring teacher. Students need to be in a classroom that has life or they will zone you out and the great knowledge that you could bring to them will fall on closed ears.
