I learned that teaching a class is multi-factorial and there are many ways to engage your students. Making sure that all students are interacting and not just a select few will guarantee a more successful class.

It was a good reminder that making an effort to get to know each student is very helpful in building a sense of repect on both sides. The teachers I remember most are the teachers that made an effort to get to know me as well.

I plan to come prepared for class and prep appropriately. I will go over the syllabus to set expectations for a course. I also liked the idea of having a written notepad on me at all times, so that I can jot down notes to refer back to. In this current day and age I rely a lot on my phone, but am also less likely to take a note on the phone. I also don't think this looks as professional; so that is one idea I plan to implement

I plan to model professionalism through appropriate language and dressing business casual to reflect the dress they will likely encounter in their own careers. Modeling that will also begin the class with a tone of mutual respect. I have also learned in this section to be well prepared, but be open to discussion and present a positive attitude regarding the topic to keep the students engaged.
