Activity

Being professional and modeling positive body language is important so we can maintain our credibility and that of our institution, however mirroring can help to build rapport with the person who might be apprehensive to open up. How do you think you can balance the two for the best result? Dr. Jean Norris
That's great awareness Tracy and a good plan. I find keeping a notepad in front of me at all times allows me to jot notes down to prepare for my call and during the call. How can you hold yourself accountable to your new plan? Dr. Jean Norris
Great approach Joe! Taking them time to ask clarifying questions can benefit all parties involved. Thank you for your post. Dr. Jean Norris
Very nice. You might find that your approach is contagious and you might see others picking up on it too. :) Dr. Jean Norris
Congratulations to you and your staff for making a positive impact on your students! Dr. Jean Norris
Excellent! Thank you for sharing Bobbi. Dr. Jean Norris
Providing upcoming events during a message is a terrific idea, it helps to keep the student engaged and could possibly inspire them to come to the event. Be careful of messages that make any false promises - if you don't have a lottery drawing of some kind at your school you will want to find a different approach. Thank you for your post! Dr. Jean Norris
These are great approaches Christine. For those students who can't make it to the lab or campus, have you considered full engagement interviews over the phone and on the web? There are many screen sharing software companies that make it possible to do almost everything that you do during a face-to-face interview in a virtual setting. How do you think this would help you with the out-of-area students? Dr. Jean Norris
This sounds like a great plan! What can you do to remind yourself to slow your talking and smile during your calls? Dr. Jean Norris
It sounds like you have given this a lot of thought and practice Christine. Not only are you showing respect for the prospective student sitting in front of you but the person on the phone as well. What type of an impression do you think this leaves with the person sitting in front of you when the phone rings? Dr. Jean Norris
