I like the example of the boss dropping the hammer on his foot to prove a point... The lesson for the worker was clear: his foot would have been broken; wear your steel-toe boots. That example actually happened to me on a job site years ago; I never forgot that lesson.

I like to plan "mistakes " in the live lecture to show what students usually do and how to correct it if they run into it. 

Connecting with students helps create an environment where they feel supported and confident in their learning. By building that connection, instructors can break down barriers and make complex material easier to understand

I was always a fan of the wax-on approach, breaking down a big task into a simple task that makes it possible... 

Intrinsic and extrinsic motivators work together in adult education, with external rewards such as grades, certificates, or career opportunities encouraging students to learn. Over time, students may develop intrinsic motivation as they enjoy the learning process, take pride in their progress, and find personal satisfaction in mastering new skills. But I think the challenge for instructors is to find the right balance for the class they are teaching. 

In the finals department, I have seen both positive and negative results when students are given full autonomy. Some students thrive with the freedom to make their own decisions, while others benefit from additional structure, clear boundaries, and guidance. Ultimately, I believe the effectiveness of student autonomy depends on the individual student, their level of experience, and their ability to manage their own learning.

When starting a class, taking a few minutes during the introduction to establish expectations can help students feel safe and set the tone for a professional and organized presentation. This introduction should help students feel more prepared and confident, creating a positive learning environment.

Adult Learners value their time and seek measurable outcomes. I imagine this drives their motivation to learn and shapes their preference for a practical, results-oriented learning experience.
