About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Raquel, We must lead by example. We are truly role models for many of our students. Our sudents look up to us. Patricia
Hi Beth, As an old instructor, we make mistakes too. I have been teaching for more than 21 years and from time to time I still make mistakes. Learn from them and move on... Patricia
Hi Silvana, Some tests are simply harder to cheat on. I like how you take the time to rescrable/recreate the questions. Patricia
Hi Melanie, An instructor must be on their feet in order to effectively monitor a test. Poor monitoring of a test is being done whenver an instructor is sitting. Patricia
Hi Jacqueline, We must prepare our students as much as we can. Some students do need as much practice as possible. Patricia
Hi Annarose, Applications that students will be doing on the job is a sure way to demonstrate course relevancy. Patricia
Hi Charles, Students need and want us to make the learning process as real as possible. Every opportunity you get to make it realistic, do it. Patricia
Hi Phillip, I just had a comical reaction when I read "Some-Heimers". I like the newly created term. I definitely will use this. What a great way to add humor... Patricia
Hi Heather, Students automatically buy in whenever they know that they will do applications that are applicable to their careers. Remember, as instructors we need to be excited on Day 1 as well as throughout the entire grading period, this helps with buy in too. Patricia
Hi Omar, Most silent students have great potential. They just do not share it openly. Shy students tend to open up more in smaller settings. Patricia
