About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Roger, We need to teach our students how to be organized, how to meet deadlines, and how to be held accountable. The calendar will certainly help with these lessons. Patricia
Hi Marc, Students do have a different level of excitement once they are able to see/utilize real world examples. They understand how these things would benenfit them on job. Patricia
Hi Sandra, You are my kind of educator. These are sure ways to reduce anxiety. Thanks for having the right teaching attitude. Patricia
Hi Debbie, Preparation is key. It is always best to have way too much material than to not have enough. Patricia
Hi Jackie, Asking questions typically does reel the student back in. We need our students to be focus so that they get what they need in order to be successful in the workforce. Patricia
Hi Paul, As instructors we don't like putting students on the spot, but sometimes we have to, not in a bad way, but just to help them regain focus so that they won't miss anything. Patricia
Hi Benjamin, Students really do buy in whenever they understand how the subject matter will help with employment. Patricia
Hi John, Students need to know that we genuinely care about them. They also need to know that we want them to succeed. Patricia
Hi Sharon, Calendars work really well. Calendars really help your unorganized students become better organized. Patricia
Hi John, I do the same with Microsoft Word and Excel. I use the textbook as a resource, but I create real world projects for my students. Whenever the projects are more realistic, students tend to understand the concepts better. Patricia
