About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Victor, Students get a great sense of satisfaction knowing that various concepts learned is applicable to the real world. Patricia
Hi Rhonda, How do you handle students that will put fingers at everyone else except themselves? Patricia
Hi Cemal, How do you feel being friends with students is conducive to the classroom environment? Patricia
Hi Lori, Absolutely! These type tests are much harder to cheat on. We as educators sometimes make it too easy for students to cheat such as T/F and multiple choice tests because we want easy grading to occur, easy cheating comes with this as well. Patricia
Hi David, Mobility is a good thing during testing. I've had students to tell me I make them nervous while walking around and they are testing. I tell them to act as though I do not exist and focus on their test. Maybe they are really nervous because of another reason... Patricia
Hi Lori, Knowledge, preparation, and organization will certainly reduce instructor;s anxiety. Patricia
Hi Jay, Students love being shown an example. It truly puts the student's nerve at ease. It also gives them confidence that they can do well on the assignment...it can get done. Patricia
Hi Christopher, Students must be held accountable. You are going above and beyond to make things clear for your students. It does break your heart as an instructor to fail students, but sometimes this serves as a wake up call. I would suggest speaking to these students to find out why aren't they being responsible for their work. Patricia
Hi Laura, Showing examples really do add clarity as well as give students confidence that the project is doable. Patricia
Hi Derrick, What type of interactive learning do you utilize in the courses you teach? It is certainly a great way for involvement. Patricia
