About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Gregory, I use this tactic as well! It is very effective. Patricia
Hi Jonathan, Showing examples is definitely a great way to generate excitement, reduce anxiety, and build confidence. Patricia
Hi Joel, There is nothing like practicality. Students love it, need it, want it, and understand it. It generates great excitement. Patricia
Hi Sarah, How has this worked for you. I like the idea! Patricia
Hi Robert, I like it! I will build from what you have stated. This makes perfect sense. Thanks for taking the idea to a whole different level. Patricia
Hi Eileen, You are on point! The environment has to be conducive so that learning can effectively take place. Patricia
Hi Claire, I understand! I teach document processing classes and a component of the course deals with typing various legal documents. Students love it when I show them an example of a will, petition to sell real estate, etc. Being shown examples to follow for formatting makes it so much easier. Patricia
Hi Luis, You do know when you are losing your students. Take a moment and pause and ask does everyone understand, and move forward. Variation is good, and it is challenging to change every 8 minutes. Patricia
Hi Marion, Absolutely! We all have/had our struggles and because of them we are a lot smarter, wiser, and like you mentioned stronger. No pain, no gain! Patricia
Hi Joel, How do you go about exemplifying a positive attitude? Patricia
