About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jennie, I let my students know as well as my instructors, if you have a Facebook page, the page needs to be very clean in nature. A Facebook page can really tarnish one's reputation. You must be careful... Patricia
Hi Darren, Students need someone to look up to so that they can emulate their positive behavior. Great response, Darren. Patricia
Hi Daniel, You are absolutely right! I have students tell me all the time when I grow up, I want to be just like you. Patricia
Hi George, It appears that you do a thorough job explaining the course requirements. Students need to know what is expected of them. Patricia
Hi Sherry, Students need to know that they matter. Everyone wants to feel important, and it is our job to let our students know that we truly care about them as a person and their success. Patricia
Hi Araceli, Let them know on Day 1 if deadlines are not met what will be the repercussion. Patricia
Hi Letisha, I understand what you are saying. There are some days you just feel so much more prepared than others... you can tell a difference when this does happen. Patricia
Hi Sue, Having a policy and sticking to it is key. My policy is at the minimum both parties if guilty with proof will fail the course. Patricia
Hi Michael, You are right! It is hard to change students. Continue to do what's right as an instructor and hopefully the student will want to make a change based on your professionalism. Patricia
Hi Douglas, Games are a sure way to promote learning. There is nothing like having fun while learning. Patricia
