About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Luis, I make it as obvious to simply announce to my students that they are being watched during test time. You go to great length to minimize cheating. Super work!
Hi Paul, You must be the perfect instructor. You were exactly where they are. You can really reach these students because you sat where they are now sitting. Share your great practical stories as well as your student stories to promote course relevancy. Patricia
Hi Kim, Well said! The instructor's responsibilities are to teach and instruct. Befriending a student does not fit into the equation. Patricia
Hi Don, You're right! They want to hear it all, including the horror stories, and we should share at all levels, as you do. Patricia
Hi Joy, It sounds like you are very approachable, and you are definitely there for your students. I like to let my students know that I have an open door policy, and they are always welcome. Patricia
Hi Brian, When students understand how the class pertains to their career, they show excitement and interest. Patricia
Hi Theodore, I like the idea of priming students to get them ready. Students love visuals. Much clarity is added from visuals. Patricia
Hi John, We have to remember to be professional at all times while on campus. Students watch us constantly, and they form an opinion, good or bad. Patricia
Hi Joseph, Absolutely! We are not in it for a popularity contest! We need to always make our priority to teach our students so that they can learn from us. Patricia
Hi Jamel, Absolutely! Preparation is key! We owe it to our students to KNOW our subject matter and present it in an understanding fashion to the students. Patricia
