About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Carla, Great way to get students to buy in. Students love hearing stories, examples, scenarios etc. from practical experience. Patricia
Hi Angela, Awesome response! Each assignment given should be meaningful and add as an enhancement to the course objective. No assignment should be given just for the sake of being given. Students have to much else going on to have to just do busy work. Patricia
Hi Rebecca, You are on point! Students will take full advantage of you if you are not stern with them. Patricia
Hi Billy, You may want to post this on facebook and hopefully professionals in this area can help. Patricia
Hi Mary-Jane, You can tell most of the time when students are trying to cheat. Cheating students will watch your every move, they appear real figidty, they may look up to the ceiling, their eyes may begin to wander, etc. Patricia
Hi Natelle, Keeping students active is certainly a great way to keep their attention sparked. Idle time is not good for students. Patricia
Hi Sandy, Great variety! I like how you break your activities into intervals. Even adult students need structure. Patricia
Hi Melissa, I imagine this is a lot like putting together a puzzle. Students have to use analytical and thinking skills. Very creative idea. Patricia
Hi Gina, We all make mistakes. Learn from your mistakes, admit them, and move forward. Patricia
Hi Ruby, Guest speakers are priceless, and they add so much flavor to the course. Students are generally excited to hear guest speakers. Patricia
