About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Lisa, I like to sell my students on the course by letting them know how the course/skill will help them be successful in the workplace. Patricia
Hi Dario, Preparation is a must! Early arrival gives you the opportunity to inhale and exhale, thus getting yourself together. Patricia
Hi Robert, Any time you can share a practical experience to show course relevancy, do so. Seeing is believing. Students get it, this way. Patricia
Hi Mamie, It is certainly our job to produce an environment that is conducive for effective learning to take place. It is the instructor's job to control the learning environment. Patricia
Hi Barbara, Students love seeing examples as to what is required of them. Being shown an example can certainly add clarity as well as motivation to students. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, Visual brings about better clarity. Patricia
Hi Amy, I certainly understand your perspective here. It is amazing what dress can do to your energy level. Patricia
Hi Matthew, When students understand how they can benefit either or both personally/professionally, they have a better grip of the relevancy. Patricia
Hi Jessica, It is important to make things fully known on Day 1 so that students know way in advanced and there are no surprises. Patricia
